ChildLine Rocks!
The CHILDLINE ROCKS concert took place at O2's indigO2 on Thursday 13th March. The concert was in aid of ChildLine, ChildLine is the UK's free, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Every day thousands of children call ChildLine, but lack of funds means that our counsellors are not able to answer all of these calls. We raised vital funds to help Childline to answer every call from every child by throwing a fantastic rock concert with legendary British rock stars.

Marillion are currently locked down in their own studio in the Buckinghamshire countryside writing and recording their fifteenth album. This impressive catalogue represents a span of music from their early progressive rock influences through to today's soulful experimentalism. Singer Steve "h" Hogarth, guitarist Steve Rothery and bassist Pete Trewavas have bailed out to perform a short acoustic set for Childline Rocks. "We wholeheartedly support Childline and, to be honest, we'd do anything for Bob Harris anyway."
Once described (by themselves) as being as the biggest Rock'n'Roll band you've never heard of, Thunder are one of the great British rock acts (they sound like a cross between Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones and Bad Company - it's true). Having toured the world extensively since 1989, and released a huge body of records (both studio and live), they've notched up 18 top 40 UK hits. How? Not with massive Radio and TV support, no far from it, their success has been down to a combination of their reputation as a phenomenal live act, and the fanatical support of their ever growing fanbase. Thunder have toured with acts such as Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Status Quo, Deep Purple, Bryan Adams, ZZ Top, Metallica, the list goes on. They've won awards galore, including best Rock Vocalist (Danny Bowes - Burrn magazine Japan) and Best Live Rock Act by readers of Kerrang magazine UK.

His career, spanning over 25 years of the entertainment industry, is notable for his charismatic stage performances and uncompromising lyrics. Fish has produced a body of work which rivals that of any contemporary.
"As a lyricist, Fish has always been heartfelt, poetic and prolific, repeatedly focusing on both deeply personal issues and wider social themes, shrugging off accusations of ‘sixth-form sentimentality’ to produce some of the most emotionally honest and moving verse to breach the UK mainstream." Scrawl.

Deep Purple’s drummer since he joined the band (age 19) in 1968. Armed with a dazzingly fast technique, Ian has also worked with Paice, Ashton & Lord, Gary Moore and Whitesnake.
A highlight was guesting on Sir Paul McCartney’s ‘Run Devil Run’ (1999) Rock’n’roll album. Steve Morse says about Ian Paice: "He's like a real heavy Ringo. He's just so good on the drums, but doesn't want to make a big deal about it." Ian has also released a new solo DVD which is aimed at drummers and music fans alike.

Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style, blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes' calling card. He's known as a singer's singer. In fact, Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favourite white singer. The KLF famously dubbed him 'The Voice of Rock' after Glenn provided the incredible vocals for their international mega hit 'What Time is Love', and since then, the name has stuck, and few - if any - would refute it.
Finding enormous international fame with Deep Purple in the 70's, and with a successful and critically acclaimed solo career since the early 90's, Glenn's recent albums have featured his musical brother-in arms Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums. The next album - due for release in May 2008 - promises to be the finest yet in a long and distinguished career.

The Zombies touring band features original members Colin Blunstone (vocals) and Rod Argent (keyboards/vocals) as well as Jim Rodford (bass), Steve Rodford (drums) and Keith Airey (guitar).
They tour constantly in the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA performing all their best known songs such as “She’s Not There” and “Time Of The Season”, plus Argent hits like “Hold Your Head Up” and “God Gave Rock n Roll To You”, and Colin Blunstone’s solo hits, “Say You Don’t Mind”, “What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted” and “I Don’t Believe In Miracles”.
Its 40 years since the release of The Zombies’ swansong ‘Odessey & Oracle’ album which in a recent Top British Albums chart featured in NME, was placed at number 32, with the accompanying comment: “…British psychedelia with a kaleidoscopic vision that rivals even The Beatles”.
The Zombies are cited by the mercurial Courtney Love and as influences by Badly Drawn Boy, Paul Weller, Super Furry Animals, Magic Numbers, Billy Joel, Arctic Monekys, and the Foo Fighters.
“If a band like The Zombies existed now, they would own the world”- Tom Petty

As well as a successful solo career, Russ has had many hits as a songwriter for bands such as Three Dog Night("Liar"), Hot Chocolate("So you win again"), Rainbow("Since you been gone" &"I surrender"), Uriah Heep, Roger Daltrey, Kiss, Elkie Brooks and many more. Russ will be joining the Zombies on stage-this will be the first time he has performed live in the UK since 1976!
To summarise: this will be a showcase of some fantastic talent, and we are eternally indebted to all of them for their support!
